Zusammenfassung: | There is an embarrassing polarization of opinions about the status of economics as an academic discipline, as reflected in epithets such as the Dismal Science and the Queen of the Social Sciences. This collection brings together some of the leading figures in the methodology and philosophy of economics to provide a thoughtful and balanced overview of the current state of debate about the nature and limits of economic knowledge. Authors with partly rival and partly complementary perspectives examine how abstract models work and how they might connect with the real world, they look at the special nature of the facts about the economy, and they direct attention towards the academic institutions themselves and how they shape economic research. These issues are thus analysed from the point of view of methodology, semantics, ontology, rhetoric, sociology, and economics of science |

The institutions of economics: You shouldn't want a realism if you have a rhetoric Deirdre N. McCloskey More things change, the more they stay the same: social realism in contemporary science studies D. Wade Hands Economists: truth-seekers or rent-seekers? Jesús P. Zamora Bonilla There is an embarrassing polarization of opinions about the status of economics as an academic discipline, as reflected in epithets such as the Dismal Science and the Queen of the Social Sciences. These issues are thus analysed from the point of view of methodology, semantics, ontology, rhetoric, sociology, and economics of science Philosophie Wirtschaft Economics / Philosophy Economics / Methodology Methode (DE-588)4038971-6 gnd rswk-swf Wirtschaftswissenschaften (DE-588)4066528-8 gnd rswk-swf Soziale Wirklichkeit (DE-588)4220554-2 gnd rswk-swf Volkswirtschaftslehre (DE-588)4078943-3 gnd rswk-swf Modell (DE-588)4039798-1 gnd rswk-swf Methodologie (DE-588)4139716-2 gnd rswk-swf Wirklichkeit (DE-588)4066380-2 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift 1997 Rotterdam gnd-content 2\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Volkswirtschaftslehre (DE-588)4078943-3 s Methodologie (DE-588)4139716-2 s Modell (DE-588)4039798-1 s Wirklichkeit (DE-588)4066380-2 s 3\p DE-604 Wirtschaftswissenschaften (DE-588)4066528-8 s Methode (DE-588)4038971-6 s Soziale Wirklichkeit (DE-588)4220554-2 s 4\p DE-604 Mäki, Uskali edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-00957-7 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-81117-0 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511493317 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
