Dragonetti and Tola develop the thesis that there is an essential identity
between Indian and Western philosophies (until the XVIth or XVIIth centu¬
ries) in regard to subjects, methods, results, presence of irrationality, lack
of freedom of thought and absence of search of truth for its own sake. In
order to support their thesis, the authors compare doctrines of the most
ancient texts of India
phical system with doctrines of Western philosophers, indicating amazing
points of contact. They reach the conclusion that there is not an Oriental
thought and a Western thought , but only a Universal human thought .
The quoted texts are presented in their original languages (Sanskrit, Latin,
Greek, Italian, French, German, English) with an English translation.
Carmen Dragonetti, Dr. PhH., Lima (Peru), is research fellow of the
CONICET (National Council for Scientific Research, Argentina) and Dr.
Fernando Tola, Dr.
institution (now retired), both in the highest category. They are authors of
numerous publications (English and Spanish) on Indian philosophy.
Dragonetti
Jahrhundert eine grundlegende Übereinstimmung zwischen indischer und
westlicher Philosophie gab im Hinblick auf Themen, Methoden, Ergebnis¬
se, die Gegenwärtigkeit von Irrationalität, den Mangel an Denkfreiheit und
fehlende Suche nach Wahrheit um ihrer selbst willen. Zur Untermauerung
ihrer These vergleichen die Autoren die Lehren der ältesten Texte aus
Indien
Sãmkhya
che Berührungspunkte fest. Sie kommen zu dem Schluß, daß es keine
„östliche oder „westliche Denkweise gibt, sondern eine universelle
menschliche Art zu denken. Die zitierten Texte werden in ihrer jeweiligen
Originalsprache (Sanskrit, Latein, Griechisch, Italienisch, Französisch,
Deutsch, Englisch) mit einer englischen Übersetzung vorgestellt.
